Our friendly team of volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to transport Norfolk patients to their essential medical appointments across East Anglia.

Detailed description


Volunteer drivers offer a crucial door-to-door service for walking patients in the local community and provide them with transport to essential medical appointments at hospitals, clinics and treatment centres.

  • Transport patients in a caring and sensitive manner
  • Ensure they are taken to/from the correct destination as scheduled
  • Be genuinely interested in the welfare of others

We are seeking a regular commitment of at least 6 hours a week. Full training and support will be given. Mileage expenses are reimbursed as per HMRC guidelines (45p/mile for the first 10,000 miles annually and 25p/mile thereafter).

Voluntary Norfolk works with HTG to provide a non-emergency patient transport service to people living in Norfolk. Volunteer car drivers take patients to essential medical appointments within East Anglia using their own cars. Volunteers provide a home–to–home service for patients accessing outpatients’ clinics and specialist treatment centres, including dialysis units.
