Festival of Volunteering

Are you curious about volunteering and don’t know where to start? Throughout June the Get Involved Festival of Volunteering 2026 will take place in venues across Norfolk. This community celebration will feature volunteer fairs, open days, one-off activities and events showcasing the power of volunteering. The Volunteer Extravaganza returns again for its third year running! Getting yourself Work and Volunteering Ready

Getting Work and Volunteering Ready: Building Confidence and Learning Skills across Norfolk and Suffolk

If you feel like you could do with increasing your employability and volunteering skills, and you're autistic, Learning Disabled or otherwise neuro-divergent, Headway Suffolk & Norfolk have something for you. As one of the Get Involved Innovations Fund projects, Headway Suffolk and Norfolk are offering group and1:1 support to get you in to volunteering roles where you can increase your skills and experience. This experience is often really helpful when applying for paid employment. Headway are offering help with Improving your skills and confidence, understanding your strengths CV writing and applications Interview preparation Matching you with voluntary roles. Do something constructive: work experience - King's Lynn

Referrals now open for upcoming retrofit project at Jubilee Clinic, Heacham The project starts on 19th May and runs till the 4th June. This project offers short-term work experience where learners can build confidence, develop practical skills, and achieve a City & Guilds Entry Level 3 qualification in just 3 days with the possibility to do retrofit accreditation at a later point if chosen. The opportunity is open to young people aged 14–24 (with preference for local residents) This project is funded by Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 Community Fund as part of their multi-year investment in Norfolk & Suffolk's coastal communities. It is a really excellent opportunity for young people to gain hands on experience of the trades and how these relate to retrofit and energy efficiency and represents one project in their multi-year investment in Norfolk & Suffolk's coastal communities. Volunteer it Yourself have also been awarded additional funding for this project Building Skills for Better Futures managed by Norfolk Community Foundation (NCF) Project Details – Jubilee Clinic (Heacham) 📍 Location: Pound Lane, Heacham, King’s Lynn, PE31 7ET 📅 Dates: 19th May – 4th June 🔧 Activities include: Carpentry (battens and skirting adjustments) Insulation & drylining (insulated plasterboard) Painting & decorating (internal refurbishment) Flooring (replacing existing finishes) Why get involved? A Million Acts of Hope - take part now!

During May 2026, Voluntary Norfolk will be taking part in the national campaign A Million Acts of Hope . The campaign celebrates the millions of people across Britain who support their neighbours and communities every day, helping to create more welcoming and connected places. We would love to showcase the incredible work happening across Norfolk by sharing real stories, examples, and moments of kindness that reflect this spirit of community. We invite you to get involved by sharing with us your own examples of support, volunteering, or community action . These can be big or small – every act of hope helps build a fuller picture of the positive impact taking place across our county. If you would like to contribute, please send us a short description (up to 100 or so words), photos (if available), or any relevant details by Wednesday 6 May to communities@voluntarynorfolk.org.uk You might like to tell us about: A moment when your community came together A simple action that had a positive impact A recent act of kindness you’ve seen or been part of A volunteer who supports their community with compassion For example: “I helped organise a neighbourhood clean-up day at our local park, bringing together residents of all ages. Dozens of people joined in, collecting litter, planting flowers, and chatting with neighbours they hadn’t met before. It created a real sense of pride and connection in our community, and we’re now planning to make it a regular event. It was great to see how a simple idea could bring people together and make a lasting difference.” Selected stories will be shared across Voluntary Norfolk’s social media channels between 13-20 May .
