Summary
The purpose of this role is to help busy NHS staff with the evening meal service to patients on Beech Ward.Detailed description
As a mealtime support volunteer, you will be providing practical support to ward staff by helping to prepare patients for mealtime, making sure they have everything the need, and helping to serve meals and tidy up afterwards.
By carrying out this role you will be enabling staff to maximise the amount of time they can spend focusing on patients. You will also be able to provide patients with companionship and an opportunity to socialise.
Activities you may be asked to carry out in this role:
- Tidying/cleaning tables before and after meals
- Serving meals
- Making sure everything is in reach
- Spending time with individual patients, providing companionship
- Help staff with other basic non-clinical tasks
- Helping to feed patients (optional) - further training required
This is an evening role only, you will be expected to commit to a weekly session, arriving promptly to help with the meal service at 5pm.
To volunteer in this role you will need to provide us with 2 references, complete a DBS check and complete mandatory training.
