Summary

To provide social, emotional, and practical support to vision impaired young people and their families during our exciting events and activities.

Detailed description

We are pleased to offer a wide range of exciting volunteering opportunities to help support our children, young people and families (CYPF) service in 2025. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support vision impaired young people and their families during CYPF events, to enable them to enjoy the same activities as fully sighted children by promoting confidence and independence.

CYPF volunteers engage in a variety of activities, including running playgroups, zoo, museum trips and much more.

You will be given training and support to ensure that you are comfortable in your role, which includes children and safeguarding training and vision impairment awareness training. You will also be supplied with your own CYPF t-shirt and/or hoodie to wear when volunteering.

Due to the nature of the role, please note that all of our CYPF volunteers undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check.

Prior experience in working with children and young people is preferred but not essential. We are looking for volunteers who are empathic and understanding, demonstrate effective communication skills, and enjoy meeting new people whilst encouraging clients to maintain their independence.
