Summary

To help support people with a visual impairment with accessibility tools that can help them with using technology such as phone, tablets and PC’s.

Detailed description

To help support those with a visual impairment to access technology such as:

·      Making phone calls using a smart phone

·      Messaging using a smart phone

·      Using Skype or Facetime

·      Accessibility of the Internet

·      Accessibility tools to help with reading text and using a tablet

Volunteers need to have an interest in helping others and be a user of technology themselves. Full training will be given so we don’t expect you to be an expert.

Experience of supporting someone with a visual impairment would be helpful but isn’t essential.

The role is suitable for those who have a visual impairment themselves who are confident to travel into a city centre location and who would like to share their experience of using assistive technologies.

Travel expenses can be reimbursed to enable travel to sessions by public transport or by taxi where necessary.
