Summary

Help people of all ages with specific IT-related questions aligned to job seeking. Increase online confidence on Job Sites, Emails, CV setup and applications.

Detailed description

Scheduled for Tuesday between 11:00 - 13:00 and Friday between 14:00 - 17:00


Main Duties

  • To liaise with staff to ensure learners are booked in at the right time and to ensure that there is a computer available
  • To be available within the library at agreed regular times to offer support to customers with specific job searching related queries
  • To encourage safe use of the internet
  • To help raise confidence in using email and the Find a Job government website
  • To help library customers to complete Learn My Way modules through the Learn My Way website where relevant
  • To help with finding job opportunities using internet search engines and completing online forms


Behaviours and Skills (volunteers within this role would need the following skills, experience and personal qualities)

  • Good communication skills
  • Competent IT skills, knowledge of MS Office, Email and Online Search Engines
  • Confident dealing with a wide range of adults with different learning needs
  • Good time management
  • Able to communicate to a wide variety of people

  • Induction to the library
  • Training in Data Protection
  • Health and Safety aspects of role
  • Introductory training on public computers in libraries, their requirements and limitations and how they differ from home PCs
  • Introduction to Find a Job site
  • Introduction to Learn My Way website


Ongoing support will be available through library staff and the library manager.


Volunteer travel expenses can be reimbursed to allow a volunteer to participate in this volunteering role.
