Summary
We are looking for Volunteers to engage with patients to enable them to share their experiences of care as a patient, carer or visitor.Detailed description
The NNUH is an outstanding organisation with exceptional patient and carer experience where people feel listened to, action is taken and we work in partnership with patients and carers, especially those who are seldom heard. We understand that shared experiences may vary but, as a Trust, we want to hear and listen to enable to act to improve. Patient feedback allows us to better understand patient experiences and to implement improvement throughout the whole of the organisation.
There are several ways in which our service users can let us know how we are doing, which include speaking to staff directly either on the wards or departments, or by contacting our PALS staff.
Another way feedback gained is through our Friends and Family Test either just before patients are discharged following a stay in hospital, after treatment at the Accident and Emergency Department, or after an outpatient appointment. The Friends and Family Test gives us ‘real time’ comments and enables us to promptly act on any concerns that are arising.
To help us to achieve this, we are looking for Volunteers to engage with patients to enable them to share their experiences of care as a patient, carer or visitor. As a Patient Experience volunteer, you can offer an independent and impartial listening ear for patients to provide honest feedback to.
You will support the Patient Experience Team by using iPads to conduct surveys with our patients either in person on the ward or by telephone once the patient has been discharged, visiting up to six wards per session and spending several hours talking to our patients about their hospital experience.
We welcome people who can support staff, patients and visitors with care, compassion, positivity and empathy.
As an NNUH volunteer, you can expect to be provided with full training and ongoing support in order to aid you in delivering a much valued and crucial service.
If you feel that you are suited to this post, please pop us a message expressing your interest. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications for ward based volunteers under the age of 17.5 years old.
