Driver and Event Set-Up Volunteer

Why we need you

We get invited to attend lots of different events throughout the year and without the help of volunteers we couldn’t attend nearly as many as we do. In addition to needing volunteers on the day to host our charity gazebo or stall, we also need volunteers to help us transport materials to and from events as well as assist in setting up and dismantling equipment.

 What you will be doing

• Collecting merchandise boxes and equipment (gazebo, tables, chairs etc) from our offices in Norwich or between events in Norfolk & Suffolk and delivering these either to an event or to another volunteer.
• Using either your own vehicle or one of our charity pool cars or a hire vehicle, transporting equipment to and from events across Norfolk, Suffolk, (and possibly Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire but you not have to do this)
• Assist with setting up at events and help with putting up the gazebo.
• Return at the end of each event to help pack away and dismantle equipment.
• Return merchandise and equipment to the office.

When you will be volunteering

This role is quite flexible, but we usually need help with event preparation on a Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday. You won’t need to stay for the whole day, but you might need to be willing to go and help set up in the morning and then go back to help pack down at the end of the day.

Collection and returning equipment to and from the office will require you to be available during the week, before and after events.

What you need for this role

• To be friendly, approachable and enthusiastic
• Enjoy meeting new people and working in a team
• Full clean UK driving licence
• To have informed your insurance company that you will be using your vehicle for volunteer purposes and have confirmation your insurance covers you for this
• Physically able to lift and manoeuvre equipment, with help
• Reliable and trustworthy
