East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) are looking for Volunteer Drivers to join our friendly team! Provide support for a fantastic local charity.

Detailed description

Job Summary

East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) are looking for volunteer drivers to transport children, young people or family members who are currently accessing EACH’s services at hospice.

This may be journeys to the home, hospice or other locations such as hospital appointments.

There may also be times where drivers are asked to transport members of staff or essential items between our 3 hospice sites and other locations.

Flexibility is key in this role, driving jobs are provided on an ad-hoc basis due to the nature of the charity's needs.


Responsibilities and Duties

You will be required to drive one of our hospice vehicles.

Duties can include:

• Picking up EACH children from home and bringing them to the hospice (children will always be accompanied by a parent or EACH escort to provide care for the child)

• Transporting siblings to and from EACH sibling days

• Picking up parents/ grandparents and bringing them to organised EACH groups

• You will be the friendly face transporting those accessing EACH services from A to B 


Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be 21+ and hold a full clean drivers licence
  • Live within a 10 mile radius of The Nook (Pigot Ln, Norwich NR14 7PX, UK Friendly and welcoming
  • Committed and reliable
  • Flexible
  • Understanding, respectful and non-judgemental
  • Experience of driving professionally (e.g. school bus driver, driving instructor) is desirable, not essential
  • Experience of working with children /young people/ vulnerable people is desirable, not essential


Recruitment process

Application form, Informal Interview, Enhanced DBS & 2 references. You will also be required to complete a drivers declaration form and undertake some mandatory training ahead of commencing your volunteer role, some of which will require an annual refresher e.g. safeguarding.
