Job Summary

East Anglia's Children's Hospice (EACH) are looking for committed and reliable volunteers to join our Help at Home service in Norfolk. Caring for a seriously ill child or young person can put extra demands on a family and the aim of this service is to offer practical support within the families own homes.


Responsibilities and Duties

We are looking for reliable, committed and caring volunteers to undertake a variety of practical tasks which include, 1:1 sibling support, DIY and gardening, cleaning and cooking, dog walking, shopping, picking up prescriptions, accompanying siblings to play activities and preparing them for school activities and anything else the family requires. Please note you do not need to be able to do all of the above! You will be matched with a family based on your skills, personality etc. This role does not include nursing care tasks such as personal care, feeding, volunteers are not expected to carry out specialised tasks. We require all volunteers to be aged 18 or above.


Qualifications and Skills

You do not need any qualifications in order to do this role.

A full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle is preferable.

We ask that you are non-judgmental and willing to get stuck into jobs at the family home.

We ask that you try to commit for 6 months once you are matched with a family but we understand that circumstances change.


Recruitment process

We would like to meet you for an informal chat and will ask you to complete a personal details form. We will help you to choose two referees for us to contact and will guide you through an enhanced DBS check. You will then be invited to two days of training to prepare you for the role.
