Summary

Entry Into Service Volunteers engage with people who are often apprehensive about accessing support for their substance misuse and assess their needs.

Detailed description

Volunteers make an enormous contribution to our work at Change Grow Live. Last year over 1400 volunteers donated over a quarter of million hours of their time to our organisation. Would you like to join our growing team of volunteers, and make a real difference?

Volunteers contribute to Change Grow Live in a variety of ways. From Admin Volunteers to Service User Reps, from Peer Mentors to Healthcare Support Volunteers, from Independent Visitors to Community Mentors each volunteer brings a unique set of skills and talents. We are incredibly grateful for all that volunteers do to support our service users.

The Entry Into Service role involves meeting people who are often apprehensive about accessing support for their substance misuse. You will meet them when they are feeling vulnerable and offer reassuring listening ears. You will tell them about the services we offer, and after lots of training, assess what their needs are and their goals in working with us.

Most of our volunteer opportunities don’t need any special qualifications. We’ll make sure you get all the training and support you need. All we ask is that you're kind, open-minded and passionate about supporting people.

Everyone is welcome at Change Grow Live. As a volunteer you will be treated with respect and accepted for who you are. You don’t need to have personal experience of drug and alcohol recovery to get involved.

To best support our service users we would love to hear from anyone who has free time to volunteer with us for 2 days a week on either a Monday, Thursday or Friday.

Perks:

Free tea and coffee in the office

Extensive training on specific assessment work and in particular our computer systems, as well as general substance misuse and workplace skills

Access to our Employee Assistance Programme (after 6 months in post)

About Cultural Connections Volunteering

Cultural Connections is a NEW project promoting volunteering in the arts, heritage and cultural sector. We've just added a few events and activities but there are plenty more to come!!!

It's an easy and fun way to get into volunteering for residents of Great Yarmouth and East Suffolk. You can volunteer at exciting arts, heritage and cultural events and activities, including festivals. Volunteer as little or as much as you like and choose the kind of volunteering that works for you, including online volunteering . If you’ve never volunteered before, or you think it might be difficult for you, we’ll support you every step of the way. You'll meet new people, learn new skills, build confidence, and even earn rewards.
