Summary

Volunteer to offer guidance, a listening ear or mentor on a 1:1 basis in your local community - supporting a cause that you are passionate about.

Detailed description

Can you spare an hour or two on either a weekly or monthly basis to support a young person or a vulnerable adult in your local community?

We have a range of volunteer roles available within our services including:

-       Supporting a young person who is currently in a children’s home or foster placement by being a listening ear and a positive role model. This role is usually on one weekend day a month of your choice and includes doing a fun activity with your young person that you will both enjoy. This role sits within our Children and Young People’s services.

-       Assist a vulnerable person in your local community by visiting them at home for a cup of tea and a chat to help reduce loneliness and offer support. This role is 1 – 2 hours on a weekly basis and focuses on empowering and enabling the individual to become a part of their community by engaging in groups they wouldn’t otherwise attend without initial support and encouragement. This role is part of our Enabling service.

-       Mentoring a young person who has experienced trauma in the family home. This role is 2 hours a week over 8 weeks. This role is based within our Children and Young People services.

-       Helping an individual who have been recently discharged from hospital and need a friendly face to speak to whilst they recover and support with certain activities such as attending GP appointments / picking up prescriptions or even walking their dog. This role forms a valuable part of our Supported Hospital Discharge Service.

If you can spare an hour or more on either a monthly, fortnightly or weekly basis, we can match you according to your qualities and interests with as few or as many hours as you would like to offer.

Full training is provided and all mileage expenses are paid at 45p a mile.

We would love to hear from you!
