Volunteer Description: Creative Empowerment Volunteer Leader for Refugee Women's Art & Cultural Workshops


About Us: The Afghanistan & Central Asian Association (ACAA) is a leading grassroots charity, established in 2001, dedicated to supporting vulnerable refugees, asylum seekers, and new arrivals from Afghanistan and Central Asia. We promote integration into British society through services such as language classes, employment support, legal advice, women's empowerment programs, and mental health services.

Location: Great Yarmouth Library

Frequency: Twice a month

Role Overview: We seek a dedicated Creative Empowerment Volunteer Leader to coordinate and support our bi-monthly Art & Cultural Workshops for refugee women at Great Yarmouth Library. Your main tasks will include session coordination, artist recruitment, and outreach.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Session Coordination: Organise workshop logistics, prepare materials, and maintain attendance records.
  • Artist Recruitment: Assist in finding and scheduling local artists to lead workshops.
  • Outreach: Promote the workshops to refugee women, focusing on those from Afghanistan, Ukraine, and East European countries. Collaborate with local organisations and community groups.
  • Participation: Attend and support each session, fostering an inclusive and engaging environment.
  • Community Building: Develop relationships with participants to tailor future workshops to their needs.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for art and cultural activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective outreach.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience with diverse communities is a plus.
  • Commitment to attending two workshops per month.
