Summary
The hospice offers patients a wide range of therapeutic activities throughout the week. We especially need people to help them on Wednesdays.Detailed description
As part of our Tulip Centre team, volunteers encourage and work with patients taking part in therapeutic exercise or hobbies. For some groups you'll need a level of physical fitness so that you can support the group members in their activities - they can be both indoor and outdoor.
We have a Woodworking Group - you'll need some carpentry and DIY knowledge to help at this one.
At Lynnsport on Tuesday afternoons in the summer we have a Fishing Group - you'd be helping with rods, reels and catches!
The Exercise Group offers individualised programmes of short, circuit based exercises - with warm up and cool down and a mixture of actions.
Our Seated Yoga Group is on Friday mornings.
But if you can't help on any of those days do still contact us as we often need volunteers for other activities.
All sessions provide opportunities for sharing experiences, worries, fears, accomplishments - and they offer the social benefits of making friends within the group and a chance to have fun.
About Tapping House
The support provided is tailored to the individual, encompassing their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs in an understanding, caring and compassionate way, ensuring dignity is maintained throughout.
Care is delivered at the hospice in Hillington, either in the Inpatient Unit, Day Therapy Unit or via one-to-one sessions at the hospice. Care is sometimes provided in people’s own homes.
The current services cost over £2.5 million per year to run; the NHS funds only 32% of this, with the majority coming from the support of local groups, businesses and individuals.
