Summary
We need careful drivers to volunteer to take patients to and from the hospice - for appointments and day therapy sessions.Detailed description
Our Patient Transport service provides a safe and efficient, high quality transport service for patients, their families and their carers - from their homes to the hospice, and back again. This may be for day therapy assessments and groups, bereavement or family support, complementary therapies or any other service offered by our hospice.
Using one of the hospice vehicles you’ll pick passengers up at a prearranged time and take them from their home to the hospice. And you'll need to be available to take them home again after their visit.
We need volunteers every weekday but Friday is one of our busiest days.
About Tapping House
Tapping House hospice is committed to providing outstanding care for people in the local community living with life-shortening illnesses and to their carers, family and friends including bereavement support.
The support provided is tailored to the individual, encompassing their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs in an understanding, caring and compassionate way, ensuring dignity is maintained throughout.
Care is delivered at the hospice in Hillington, either in the Inpatient Unit, Day Therapy Unit or via one-to-one sessions at the hospice. Care is sometimes provided in people’s own homes.
The current services cost over £2.5 million per year to run; the NHS funds only 32% of this, with the majority coming from the support of local groups, businesses and individuals.
