Based at the New Priscilla Bacon Lodge Century Place Colney Norwich NR4 7YA

Shifts available Weekends and evenings.

The new Priscilla Bacon Lodge, which has been built on an 8-acre site adjacent to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, is home to a state-of-the-art palliative care unit. As well as inpatient beds, a day unit and a wellbeing centre, the Lodge will act as hub for community-based services, enabling people to receive care in their own homes. It will replace the current Priscilla Bacon Lodge –on Unthank Road – and will build on the 40 years of outstanding care given to thousands of people around Norfolk. 


 A reception volunteer will welcome those attending, enhancing the quality of their experience by helping them to feel reassured about coming to the centre. Volunteers will welcome patients and visitors as they arrive, give them any information they need and direct them to the appropriate department.

  

Key responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

 

·        To welcome patients and visitors as they arrive at Priscilla Bacon Lodge

·        To provide reassurance and information

·        Log enquiries and calls

·         Direct visitors and patients to the appropriate department or area

·        Inform departments of the patient/visitors arrival.

·        Answer the telephone and transfer if required.

·        Make up admin packs

·        Laminate and photo copy 



Activities undertaken by volunteers will not be used as a substitution for that of paid staff. Volunteers will not be asked to help in ways which facilitate a decrease in paid employment. The work of volunteers will always be to complement and not supplement that of paid employees of the trust.

Priscilla Bacon Lodge has provided Specialist Palliative Care to people around Norfolk for over 40 years. The new Priscilla Bacon Lodge is home to a state-of-the-art palliative care unit. It has been built on an 8-acre site adjacent to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Century Place Colney Norwich NR4 7YA. As well as inpatient beds, a day unit and a wellbeing centre, the Lodge is a hub for community-based services, enabling people to receive care in their own homes. The 8-acre site has given the unique opportunity of delivering the landscape, garden, formal gardens and a wildflower meadow.
