The aim of the Meet and Greet Car Park Volunteer role is to create a good first impression by welcoming patients and visitors as they arrive.

Detailed description

The aim of the Meet and Greet Car Park Volunteer role is to welcome patients and their visitors to Priscilla Bacon Lodge and to ensure spaces are available. The role is about making a good first impression and directing people to available parking spaces or providing details of alternative parking.

 

Key responsibilities to include.


·        Welcome people arriving and establish the reason for their visit.

·        Direct PBL patients, patient visitors, staff and delegates to the correct parking area

·        Monitor the number of spaces available.

·        Once limited spaces are available direct and hand out instructions for alternative parking options



Volunteer profile

 

A meet and greet car park Volunteer should be friendly, compassionate, and enthusiastic about supporting the work of NCHC and the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity.


In addition, they will have/be:


·        Enthusiastic and organised.

·        A good understanding of the importance of confidentiality

·        Good customer care, communication, and interpersonal skills

·        Resilience in the face of what can be challenging or stressful situations and environment.

·        The ability to work independently.

·        A flexible approach and attitude

·        Responsible, mature, honest

·        Non-judgemental with a sympathetic nature




·        Willing to treat all patients, relatives, visitors, staff and other volunteers with consideration, politeness, dignity, and respect.

·        Able to accept appropriate supervision and guidance from staff and to work within the guidelines.


Registration and training

 

All volunteers will need to provide two appropriate character references and complete a DBS Check. All volunteers will need to complete our volunteer recruitment process including our Volunteers’ Induction training. This will provide a comprehensive introduction to NCHC NHS Trust; key subjects which are relevant to all volunteering roles, and practical matters such as how to log volunteer hours and how to claim expenses. This training will comprise of a charity/trust induction.

 Refresher training sessions will be required throughout your time as a volunteer.


Support

You will be supported in the role by the Volunteer Coordinator who will be your main point of contact. The Volunteer Co-ordinator will support you through your induction and provide ongoing support throughout your time as a volunteer. Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to the volunteer expenses policy.

About Priscilla Bacon Lodge NCHC NHS Trust

Priscilla Bacon Lodge has provided Specialist Palliative Care to people around Norfolk for over 40 years. The new Priscilla Bacon Lodge is home to a state-of-the-art palliative care unit. It has been built on an 8-acre site adjacent to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Century Place Colney Norwich NR4 7YA. As well as inpatient beds, a day unit and a wellbeing centre, the Lodge is a hub for community-based services, enabling people to receive care in their own homes. The 8-acre site has given the unique opportunity of delivering the landscape, garden, formal gardens and a wildflower meadow.
