Oxfam Books and Music Shop Volunteer

We stock a broad selection of books from modern fiction and leisure interest to more specialist academic subjects, classics, and rare or collectable books. We also sell a good selection of vinyl, CDs and DVDs as well as a range of Fairtrade food and greetings cards.

Volunteers get involved in a huge range of tasks, here are just a few:

* Sorting incoming donations

* Researching the value of items

* Serving customer on the till and keeping our shop looking clean and tidy

* Listing items for sale on our online platform

* Getting creative creating window displays

* Behind the scenes administrative paperwork e.g. cashing up

* Crunching some numbers in Excel to help us understand what we're selling

Most of our team volunteer at a regular time each week (either 9.30-13.30 or 13.30-17.30), but we know life isn't always so regular, so we're happy to discuss times which might work for you. 

Currently we are open Monday - Saturday, 9.30am to 17.30pm. This summer we're hoping to expand out volunteer team to allow us to open on a Sunday (11-3) and raise even more money to support Oxfam's work! 

With this is mind we are particularly keen to hear from people who can volunteer at the following times:

* Monday - Saturday in the afternoon (13.30 - 17.30)

* Sunday - 11am to 3pm

Or who are interested in the following specialisms/tasks (previous experience is not required, we can teach you all that you need to know!):

* Sheet music - we have a lot and would love to grow our team who are able to sort, price and keep the section in the shop looking tidy

* Pricing books - there are always new donations coming through the door that need to be sorted and priced

* Online listing - some of our books need a wider audience to get their best price, so we list them online. This role involved researching the item, creating a listing online and potential getting involved in the packing and posting too.
