Summary
Providing support to LGBT+ drop-in groups across Norfolk by helping to run & put on activities. Groups are varied and include children, young people and adults.Detailed description
What is involved?
- Assist in the provision of safe, inclusive and open environment in which service users can be themselves and enjoy variety of activities as part of drop-in sessions.
- Encourage and support the empowerment and participation of service users
- Supporting the lead person for the designated group help plan and deliver activities as part of the drop-in sessions.
- To undertake training required as part of this role.
- Represent the Norfolk LGBT+ Project in a professional manner and follow all appropriate policies and procedures.
What are we looking for?
Desirable Experience
- Experience of working with children, young people and adults
- Group work experience
- Face-to-face work experience.
- To understand the needs of the LGBT+ community
Essential Skills
- The ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with people with diverse needs, backgrounds and experiences.
- An ability to support the needs of people who identify as LGBT+ or are questioning their sexuality or gender identity.
- An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity (equal opportunities) and to anti-discriminatory practice.
- An understanding of confidentiality and its importance in this context
- An ability to engage with the target group in a jovial and fun manner.
- To be self-directed and highly motivated.
- The ability to write clear records of work undertaken.
- The ability to work sensitively and appropriately as part of a team.
