About GENtutors:

Are you passionate about making a difference in children's education? Join our dedicated team as a Trustee Treasurer and help shape the future of our charity, which provides essential tutoring services to primary school children.

Right now private tutoring is on the rise in the UK, but it is expensive and only those who can afford it are benefiting, creating a wider gap in educational attainment. By making private tuition affordable, we help families from a wider range of households gain access to an educational tool currently only afforded by higher income families. We also provide free lessons for students from lower income families.

As employers, we offer young people the opportunity to earn a fair wage in their first job, as opposed to other larger companies who pay young people minimum wage to gain maximum profits. Our profits and proceeds are cycled back into providing even more subsidised and free lessons.

Role Description: As Trustee Treasurer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial management of our charity. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Attending online meetings with other trustees
  • Monitoring and managing the charity’s finances, supporting financial stability and sustainability.
  • Providing strategic input into financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Advising on financial strategies to support the charity’s growth and impact, including salary and payment advice regarding paid tutors.

Skills and Experience: We are seeking an individual with a financial background and a commitment to our charity’s mission. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in financial management, including accountancy.
  • Knowledge of charity finance regulations and governance (desirable).
  • Experience with managing salaries and job roles (desirable).
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to strategic discussions.
  • A passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.

Why Join Us? We are a small team dedicated to a vision that has just begun its journey. Your expertise and input will make a vital difference in shaping the future of this charity, this role is a cornerstone in our success and all your help will be put to good use immediately. If you want to step into a role where you can really see the difference you are making, this is an ideal role for you.

Application Process: To apply for the role of Trustee Treasurer, please submit a covering letter outlining your interest in the role and relevant experience.

We look forward to receiving your application.
