Summary
We are looking for a Secretary to oversee the smooth and efficient running of the Community Board enabling it to work towards Aesop and Age UK Norwich’s visionDetailed description
Aesop is a charity with a vision of a future when arts solutions for society’s problems are valued and available for all that need them. Our Dance to Health programme is an evidence-led, pioneering falls prevention dance programme for older people. We have three sustainable Dance to Health groups which have been running in Norfolk for around five years. We have worked in partnership with Age UK Norwich who have supported these groups which has enabled them to continue. We have another Dance to Health group starting in Great Yarmouth this year with funding from Active Now. In a year's time, we hope to work towards making this group sustainable as well.
Aesop and Age UK Norwich are working together to make the groups financially sustainable and locally run so that they become embedded in the community. To do this, we are introducing branches of Dance to Health which will be run locally by a Community Board. Each Community Board will have a Local Group Representation Committee made up of participants, volunteers, and Dance Artists from the local groups. The Committee represents the views of all the participants and ensures that they are actively involved in how the sustainable groups are run and develop. The Community Board will remain a part of Aesop and thus will receive ongoing support from the charity and will follow Aesop’s policies and procedures.
We are looking for a Secretary to oversee the smooth and efficient running of the Community Board enabling it to work towards Aesop and Age UK Norwich’s vision to create a financially sustainable locally run falls prevention programme.
About Dance to Health
Our Dance to Health programme combines dance with postural stability exercises to help older people to improve or maintain their strength and balance and reduce the likelihood of falling.
