Summary

Heritage Event Assistants will be helping out with Heritage Open Days at the historic Ice House, a famous Great Yarmouth landmark on Haven Bridge.

Detailed description

The Ice House is a Grade II listed building of brick construction with a thatched roof, once one of a pair, and now the only one of its kind left in the country. It's history is intertwined with the borough, its fishing industry and the railway. Out There have a vision and also significant funding to transform it into a National Centre for Outdoor Arts and Circus.

As part of the project and before major works start, Out There Arts will be researching the history of the building and educating local people about this historic community asset. This is a truly exciting opportunity for someone who loves history and talking to people from different backgrounds. It's also an incredible opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience.

The Heritage Events Assistants will:

  • Welcome and provide information to audiences, watching over the event/show and generally assisting with the smooth running of activities and performances
  • Interact proactively with the public/audiences as required e.g directing them to events
  • Helping people to find seats
  • Handing out brochures/flyers/leaflets
  • Be a point of contact and representative of the event
  • Put out/pack away chairs if required and if able
  • Work with the crew and production in managing crowds
  • Ensure the safety of the crowd/audience, e.g. in the event of an emergency evacuation
  • Work outdoors in all weathers if stationed at an outdoor event
  • Complete light lifting and manual tasks if you are willing and able to do so

It's a friendly team and you'll get guidance and loads of support, so this will not only be a really fun and interesting opportunity, but the experience and skills gained, could be incredibly useful.
