Summary

To run an inventory & maintain Scouting equipment. Knowledge of camping gear preferable. Must be able to lift fairly sizeable/ heavy items. V flexible role.

Detailed description

We have multiple items of equipment at Scouts; tents, gazebos, marquees, canopies, BBQs, lamps, archery and shooting equipment etc. We would love someone who could help with making an inventory of these items and to help clean, maintain and organise them as needed.

Some equipment is large and heavy - such as large tents and marquees - so the physical ability to lift and carry these items would be needed.

This can be adhoc with a lot of flexibility but we may need help before and after big events, camping trips etc.

Ideal for someone who is looking for a practical and physical role with no set commitment to hours and days. This would be based at our HQ on Dog Lane, Horsford.

We cannot state enough that this support is hugely beneficial to the Scouting Group, enabling Group Leaders to devote all their time to the young people we are supporting, rather than manage equipment. We hope there is someone who would love to get involved in this practical, hands-on role and truly benefit our thriving, busy scouting group.

About 1st Horsford & St.Faiths Scout Group

Scouting is the largest co-educational Youth Movement in the UK and is always growing. Here in Horsford our young people at Beavers, Cubs and Scouts make new friends and gain confidence whilst learning orienteering, crafts, archery, first aid, cooking, canoeing, team skills, life skills, responsibility and so much more! Our boys and girls challenge themselves with hikes, camps away from home, community support, events organising, fundraising, physical activities, travel...we could go on. We believe that what our young people can achieve with a bit of the right support is incredible and by Bramley Lakes in Horsford, we meet three times a week for the Beavers (from 6 years of age), Cubs (from 8) and Scouts (from10) - beyond Scouts there are also young leadership and leader opportunities; truly helping to prepare for success in the adult world.
