What you will be doing
Thornage Hall Independent Living offers day services for adults with mild-moderate learning disabilities. We offer a wide range of day service workshops, including domestic life skills (including cooking), weaving, textiles, arts and crafts, music and drama, woodwork, woodwork and IT. If you have qualifications, skills or experience in any of these areas and could work alongside our Workshop Leaders supporting small groups of adults with learning disabilities, we would love to hear from you!
Thornage Hall Independent Living is based on a 70 acre farm in rural North Norfolk, 3 miles from Holt. We are a very friendly, supportive and close-working bunch and are proud to offer a unique setting in which to volunteer.
As a volunteer we ask that you:
Have a flexible approach and a ‘can do’ attitude
Are reliable and trustworthy
Have good community skills and an ability to communicate with adults with learning disabilities
Are able to work as part of a team
Are able to attend on a regular basis (once a week is ideal, but fortnightly is okay too)

Skills Description
If you have any creative skills relating to the workshops listed, that would be great. However, we also welcome interest from anyone who just wants to volunteer with adults with learning disabilities, or who may not consider themselves to have a particular skill.

We will:
Offer you a trial workshop session alongside a Workshop leader and a small group of service users
Allocation you to a workshop where you can work alongside a Workshop Leader who will train and support you
Provide opportunities for you to develop skills in traditional arts and crafts and/or land based activities
Undertake a DBS check before you start your Volunteer role with us
We can provide references if you wish to use your experience to apply for jobs
